Hey

I was wondering what to call metabilite identification from a body fluid e.g. blood? Does anyone have a suggestion? I think this is missing in the all the published paper. When we have a novel sample, we try to identify as much as possible metabolite!

Merci,

Kambiz

Excellent question. You can read more here proposed as part of the Metabolomics Standards Initiative. I would suggest following their metabolite identification rules. You're correct---we need to hold authors to these rules and as reviewers of manuscripts make sure these rules are enforced. The more information the better!

I guess, the best 3 answers to this 'metabolite ID' are in these 3 excellent compilations: http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11306-014-0739-6#page-1http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs11306-014-0656-8 and http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4348432/. Simply can not stop ignoring what's going on (in terms of what is being published/QC) and can not wait to see what is upcoming in the next decade (circumventing bottle-necks in technology and analyses) !!!
